ABOUT THE

FIRM

Stefani Coggins, Esq.

Attorney

Stefani is a Certified Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust and Probate law as determined by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization.

Having spent a law school summer interning for an estate litigation firm in London where she witnessed the pain and heartache that can be caused by family feuds and infighting in the estate and trust administration process, Stefani knew that there had to be a better way to resolve these issues, if not prevent them before they even occurred. She took her experience and, after law school, sought out an internship with the San Mateo County Superior Court Probate Department. At the court Stefani gained valuable insights into the court supervised probate process and, from there, found her way to an estate planning position with McDowall Cotter APC in San Mateo, California. At this firm Stefani learned from knowledgeable, experienced and truly caring attorneys how to help individuals and families make sure their wishes are made clear and the process is made smooth for periods of disability or death. After only five years, Stefani became one of the firm’s first female Partners. However, Stefani knew her heart remained in Placer County where she grew up, and she ultimately relocated to Roseville, California during the 2020 pandemic. After relocating, Stefani was determined to continue helping individuals and families navigate the estate planning, trust administration and probate process.  She opened Coggins Legal PC in May 2021, and now works directly with individuals in her community on various estate and trust needs.

Stefani is a published author, having co-written a comprehensive instruction manual for executors and successor trustees entitled What to Do When a Loved One Dies (this book can be found on Amazon at Amazon - What to Do When a Loved One Dies). She is also a national speaker, having presented coast to coast on a wide variety of estate planning topics.

Stefani received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Drama at the University of California at Irvine in 2008, and later earned her Juris Doctorate degree and Certificates in Dispute Resolution and International and Comparative Law from Pepperdine University School of Law in 2012. During her time at Pepperdine, Stefani received a CALI Excellence for the Future Award for Interviewing, Counseling and Planning, and graduated as a member of the Order of the Barristers National Honor Society.  Stefani was also active on Pepperdine’s Honors Trial Advocacy Team and was the 2011 Managing Editor of the Journal of Business, Entrepreneurship and the Law.

In addition to maintaining an active law practice, Stefani shares her time with her family and friends in activities ranging from white water rafting, hiking and kayaking to movie nights and jigsaw puzzle marathons.
